Work Group mission statement:
Our mission is to assist Piedmont Triad communities develop a regional vision and establish local strategies and policies for the protection, restoration, and stewardship of an interconnected network of natural and agricultural resources that serve essential functions for healthy ecosystems, economies and citizens.
Integrating the region’s natural, agricultural, and open space assets. This innovative strategy provides an ecologically based infrastructure surrounding and within our built environment to preserve natural service functions and the associated economic benefits. Such infrastructure maintains regional vitality and character and is a core element of sustainability. The green infrastructure will incorporate conservation, recreational and working lands as well as urban green-spaces to offer regional green connectivity. The environmental dimension of the triple bottom line will be maximized through this element to identify environmental conservation and open space priorities.
